Randy Fjeld has entered a Minnesota Irish team to play in the Irish Sports Dome’s Turkey Trot Tournament and is looking for interested players. This tournament is being held on Friday and Saturday, November 28 and 29. Specific game times are currently not known. The team will compete in the 16U/18U division so all Irish players are welcome. The Minnesota Irish will be conducting another tryout to fill out teams at the 14U, 16U and 18U levels. The tryouts will be held at the Irish Sorts Dome in Rosemount at 9:30 AM on Saturday, October 25th. Any players still looking for a chance to join the Minnesota Irish program should come with their own equipment. Existing Irish players and those already notified that they are on a team for next year need not attend. There is no cost for the tryout. If you have any questions, please contact Tim Johnson.

Once again the Minnesota Irish are taking advantage of the fall school break and heading out to California to compete agianst the top 18U Gold teams filled with players looking to be recruited by college scouts. The Irish have assembled a group of girls looking to demonstrate their abilities as college bound athletes. They’ll play 7 games over three days in an intense series of games being watched by college scouts from over 125 schools. After a long and busy summer season, it looks like many of the Irish (both new and returning) are looking to hit the books and take the fall season off. Although the Irish had intended to field a team in both the 16U and 18U divisions, they will only form one fall 18U team. A limited number of players will play with the remaining players receiving a refund for the fall season. Players will be notified of the roster. Contact Tim Johnson for a refund.

The 16U “A” Minnesota Irish Fastpitch softball team posted a perfect record 8-0 in the USSSA National Tournament in Overland Park, KS. The team allowed only 3 runs in pool play, and no runs throughout bracket play. Several individuals were honored by MVP status including tournament MVP pitcher Whitney Johnson- Lake Crystal, MN (120+ strikeouts), and tournament MVP offensive player Jadyn Spencer- Waterloo, IA (.980 contact percentage and .470 batting average). All Tournament Team MVP’s were also; Dani Lagerstrom- New Richmond, WI, Emily Sherwood- St. Paul, MN, Katie Donlan- Apple Valley, MN, and Robyn Rohr- Lakeville, MN.
The Minnesota Irish 16U- Rohr finished off a very exciting road trip including playing at the Colorado Sparkler, taking 2nd in their bracket, followed by undefeated pool play at the Chicago Showcase, topped off with the USSSA World Series National Championship. The coaches and players are all very proud and honored with this achievement, and appreciate all the support from our family and friends.

Tryouts for the 2009 summer season have been announced. Fall 2008 participation will also be an option. Tryouts will be held at the Irish Sports Dome located at 13901 S. Robert Trail in Rosemount, MN. Look on the Tryouts page for answers to the most frequently asked questions.
18U - Sat Aug 9 from 10am to noon
16U - Sat Aug 9 from noon to 2pm
14U - Sat Aug 9 from 2pm to 4pm
Sunday Aug 10, 10am will be makeup for Saturday if missed.
Returning players must fill out the Registraion Form and pay a down payment by the banquet on Aug 10. New players should also complete the form, which can be found here.
Tryouts will exist for 16U and 18U Gold teams; the registration form indicates your desire to pursue one of these teams.

The banquet for the 2008 season has been set for 4pm, August 10 at the Rosemount Community Center located at 13885 South Robert Trail in Rosemount. This is a pot luck event as in past years.

It was a productive weekend for two 16U Minnesota Irish teams. The Irish Southwest and Irish Gold-Johnson teams finished 1-2 to earn both ASA berths to Owensboro, KY this past weekend in Mound.
This National tournament a widely regarded as the top 16U tournament in the country. Congratulations to the girls for an excellent tournament.
This year was the first year MSF has hosted its own MN-only qualifier, and 18 of the top teams in the state came to play at the complex in Mound, MN.
